What does “art” means?
“Art” does not mean only paintings!
Art, in its broadest sense, is a form of communication. It is something that is created with imagination and skill, that is beautiful or that express ideas or feelings. It means whatever the artist intends it to mean. This meaning is shaped by the materials, techniques, and forms it makes use of as well as the ideas and feelings it creates in its viewers.
Art is an act of expressing feelings, thoughts, desires, and observations. Normally in a visual form.
Art is educational and understanding there is more behind the art piece that is physically presented.
Types of art and the artists involved are animations, architecture, assemblage, calligraphy, gardening, ceramics (pottery), artistic design, drawing, graffiti, mosaic, paintings, photography, sculpture, stained glassworks, tapestry, writing, music, papercraft, needlecraft, jewelry, weaving and everything else formed out of imagination, skills, and talents. Performance such as dance is also art.
It is raining in Swellendam, spring rains. It holds the promise that a new season has started. Nature starts to bloom and we are allowed to go and visit restaurants again. What is nicer to have a well presented and prepared cappuccino while raining softly? Our local Wimpy presents cappuccino with a beautiful art picture that makes one smile. This brings me to something near to my heart – please support your local artists in whatever type of art they do. In these difficult times, their art might be their only income.
In Lifestyle and Art Gallery, we display some of the above art and intend to keep improving.
Hope you have a nice day!
